We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator/Manager to lead and develop our payroll bureau based near Devizes

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys managing client relationships, ensuring compliance, and delivering a high-quality service to a varied client base.

You will take responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operation of our bureau payroll service, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with current legislation.

Our payroll team provides a comprehensive and flexible service for businesses ranging from single-employee companies to organisations with over 100 employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the end-to-end payroll process for a portfolio of clients.
  • Leading and supporting payroll team members.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time each pay period.
  • Maintain compliance with HMRC regulations, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, statutory payments, and payroll legislation.
  • Manage payroll-related reporting and submissions, including RTI.
  • Oversee payroll audits and ensure payroll controls are effective and compliant.
  • Monitor legislative changes and implement necessary payroll process updates.
  • Processing year-end payroll activities, including P60s and statutory returns.
  • Producing standard and bespoke payroll reports for clients.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Advising clients on payroll legislation and best practice.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and service delivery

About You

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical payroll knowledge with excellent organisational and client management skills.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant payroll experience within a payroll bureau, accountancy practice or multi-client payroll environment.
  • Previous team leadership or management experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of PAYE, RTI, statutory payments, pensions and auto-enrolment.
  • Experience managing payrolls for multiple clients and varying payroll frequencies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency using payroll software and Microsoft Office.
