As part of the final stage of the Future Farm Resilience Fund (FFRF), farmers receiving BPS payments are now entitled to free business support to help plan for the changes to wider Agricultural Policy over the next two and a half years. This will include tailored follow up support relevant to your unique circumstances. This may include adopting new funding streams, new farming techniques or successional changes within the business.
AKC Consultants are available to deliver the business resilience service across the South of the UK, which forms part of a £32 million Defra funded programme. The initiative launches in October 2022 and runs until March 2025. As Farmers transition away from direct BPS (Basic Payment Scheme Payments), the offering will allow farmers to have one to one support via a ‘Farm Business Review’, online tools and industry knowledge to help guide your business into the next phase of Agricultural policy, followed by specialist advice unique to the challenges facing the business recommended through the initial review. If you benefited from advice under the interim phase in 2021/2022 or have applied for the lump sum exit scheme you can still register to receive support.
AKC are working in partnership with Savills and NIAB (National Institute of Agricultural Botany), collaborating in a new programme of support and business advice for the following sectors:-
Elizabeth Stockdale, who is coordinating the delivery for NIAB as project Lead, said: “Our support will be open to all farmers throughout England, helping them to increase knowledge about the impacts of changes to direct payments, explore options for farming system change and develop change management skills. There is no single solution and so we will work with farmers to help find the way forward that works for their business.”
