Improving Farm Productivity Grants: Round 2

Improving Farm Productivity Grants: Round 2

Solar Panels

Did you miss out on the first round of the Improving Farm Productivity Grant?

DEFRA has recently announced that the second round will soon be available to apply for, in the coming weeks ahead.

The Improving Farm Productivity Grant is part of the Farming Investment Fund and is available to agricultural and arable businesses to support farmers in improving farm and horticulture productivity, providing grant funding towards specific capital items.

Funded improvements will relate to:

  • The use of robotic and automated equipment and systems to aid crop and livestock production
  • Solar equipment installation to increase energy resilience and the take-up of renewable energy generation on farm

Contractors from the sectors mentioned above can also apply, to help cover the cost of robotic and automated equipment, but not solar equipment.

After receiving feedback from the first round, DEFRA are reducing the minimum grant for solar and automated equipment to £25,000, with the maximum amount remaining at £500,000. This grant will cover up to 40% of the cost of eligible items.

The minimum grant available for solar equipment is £15,000, with £100,000 being the maximum. The grant will cover up to 25% of costs for eligible items.

If you would like to apply for both grants, you may do so, as long as the maximum amount does not exceed £500,000 in total (for both applications together).

In January DEFRA will be launching their online checker, to allow you to assess your eligibility and likelihood of success, which will determine whether you are invited to submit a full application.
