MoreWoods Tree Planting and Hedges Grants Now Open

MoreWoods from the Woodland Trust is open for applications for Tree and Hedge Planting Grants.

The criteria for the tree planting is a minimum area of 0.5ha (1.24ac) with a range of species which a Woodland Adviser will help with dependent on your geographical area. 

The hedge planting requires at least 100m of hedge to be planted with a mature tree planted every 6m, The hedge species should include, Field Maple, Crab Apple, Dogwood, Dog Rose, Blackthorn, Elder and Hawthorn.  The Grant will pay up to 75% of the cost if planting is done by the landowner and up to 60% if the planting is completed by a contractor.

The application is relatively straightforward and can be completed online; a grid reference and a sketch map need to be supplied to the Woodland Trust, via either the MoreWoods or MoreHedges application process.

Gloucestershire Ash Die Back

Gloucestershire NFU and Woodland Trust have teamed up to tackle the loss of tree cover due to Ash- Die back by providing 6,000 trees for members to plant. The trees will be provided free of charge to members by the Woodland Trust, if you are interested in the tree replacement programme interest should be registered south.west@nfu.org.uk  stating the amount of trees you would like to plant, or the regional office can be contacted 01392 440700.
