The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund, part of the Farming Investment Fund, provides the opportunity for farmers, foresters, and growers in England to apply for grants on specific items of equipment which help to increase productivity, environmental sustainability and improve animal health and welfare.
Contractors in these sectors can also apply.
Grant funding can range from £1,000 to £25,000 on items from a prescribed list.
DEFRA has recently published a full list of items and detailed guidance about the grant to allow applicants to start planning their application early.
The scheme is split into two themes:
Each theme has its own item list, both of which aim to help improve farming systems by supporting farmers to:
Each item on the two lists shall be scored, based on how well they meet the objectives of the scheme.
After the scheme’s first round, additional items have been added to the two lists, plus an adjustment of grant rates following a review of the standard costs of each item.
The first round proved very popular, with participants receiving approximately 44% of the total cost in grant.
Being so popular, the first round was over-subscribed, therefore, if you were unsuccessful in the first round, it is encouraged to apply again.
