Application opens for early entrants from 18th September 2023

Businesses are invited to submit their expression of interest to participate in the initial roll out of the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) from 18th September, prior to the scheme being rolled out to all eligible businesses.

DEFRAs intention is to manage the roll out of the scheme and applications in a controlled and careful manor, ensuring all farmers and land managers are offered the right level of support.

If you would like to register your interest to be an early entrant, complete the form below.

Once DEFRA has received your completed expression of interest form, you will be contacted with details on how to begin an application. This is expected to be within 4 weeks of submitting the pre-registration form.

Details of the scheme offers can be found in the SFI Handbook for the SFI 2023 offer

There are 23 actions on offer under the new and improved 2023 scheme, including on soil health, moorland, hedgerows, integrated pest management, farmland wildlife, buffer strips, and low input grassland.

Farmers are able to be in SFI and Countryside Stewardship at the same time as long as the actions are compatible, and you are not being paid for the same action twice.

If you are interested in Group SFI agreements relating to commons or shared grazing land, DEFRA has warned that these may take longer and require some manual processing.

If you have any questions about your SFI application, or would like some assistance, please contact us on 01380 724687, and we will be more than happy to help.
